Newark 125
Celebrating 125 years of golf, community & tradition
1 9 0 1 — 2 0 2 6
In April 1901, shortly after the coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, a group of gentlemen met at Newark Town Hall to propose the formation of a Golf Club. That year, Newark Golf Club opened with 148 ordinary members — 96 of whom were gentlemen and, surprisingly, 52 ladies.
There have been many changes in the last 125 years, including a new home for the club, but in June this year we are celebrating Newark and its members past and present with a week-long calendar of events.
A Week of Celebration
8th – 14th June 2026
Community Day
We are bringing The European Disabled Golf Association and The Golf Trust to Newark Golf Club to showcase how inclusive the sport can be. Children and adults with a disability will be able to come and try golf at taster sessions and meet some of the country's leading golfers with disability.
In the afternoon, the local primary schools participating in the 2026 Tri Golf programme will take part in an inter-school challenge at the club.
We will have entertainment for all the family and a BBQ on site.
