In extending a warm welcome to Newark Golf Club to both members and visitors in 2021, I consider myself privileged to have been given this honour for a second year and I am looking forward immensely to the year ahead.
2020 was an extremely challenging year for the Club. As we go into 2021, however, I am pleased to report that we have weathered the storm and we are in excellent shape to offer members and visitors to the Club everything they would expect from a Club of our history and standing.
In welcoming Chris and Kirsty to the Club, we look forward to enjoying time in the Clubhouse as COVID-19 restrictions ease. Similarly, we welcome Jasen Barker as our new Club Professional. Jasen has extensive expertise in both retail and coaching and he and his team will, I am sure, provide an excellent service for members and visitors alike.
Finally, a quick word of thanks to our Operations Manager, Rob Hall, and Course Manager, Alex Clarricoates. They have worked tirelessly over the past year, respectively, to run the Club and to provide a well-presented and maintained golf course. The expertise, energy and enthusiasm they and all of our staff displayed at such a difficult time has been commendable.
While we all recognise that COVID-19 will be here for some time yet, the demand for golf is on the up, and I wish everyone who plays at Newark in 2021, members and visitors alike, all the best for the year ahead.
Play safe, stay safe.
