Newark Golf Club has been welcoming golfers since 1901.
I feel privileged to be Captain of such a little Gem, steeped in history.
Once again 2022 members will play for all of our trophies, some dating back over 100 years. These are so often donated by past members, and have such a deep connection to the Clubs history. The course has changed over the years to the challenging but fair course we have today, and Alex our Head Greenkeeper does a fine job with his team maintaining the course.
Whilst I have only been a member for 17 years, during that time I've watched with pride young players succeed and become professional or great amateur golfers. Many of whom are now starting to bring their children to the junior clinics run by Jasen Barker and Tom Bean our PGA professionals.
The 19th hole at Newark is a popular spot for our members after a round, and it demonstrates the camaraderie and Club feeling that Newark offers. Our clubhouse is an amazing venue for private functions, or just a place to relax with some refreshments. Professionally served by Chris and Kirsty, which I can highly recommend.
The charity I am supporting this year is the Newark Emmaus Trust (NET), they help young homeless people in the area to find shelter, gain skills and mitigate the risk of the homelessness cycle. More information on the charities activities and what they do in the area can be found on their website... https://www.newarkemmaustrust.org.uk/
I hope the sun shines everyday, and the rain falls at night. So that all our visitors can see Newark in it's very best condition. I wish all our members a successful golfing season.
Wishing you the very best.
